Hi,

Getting the right fluids together for my '91 Rolla Seca automatic.

The manual recommends ATF Dexron II for the power steering and auto transmission.

The local SuperCheap auto only had Dexron III.

a) The "III" does mean a higher viscosity and I should get Dexron II???

B) Is ATF Dexron II still made / available in my area (Sydney, Nthn Beaches)?

The ATF Dexron II is also recommended for the power Brake booster, so all above questions also apply to that for the AE92 Rolla models.

Toyota Spare parts sell the genuine ATF in 4L metal tins. Excellent stuff.

You mean the Spare Parts division of Toyota Australia?

A higher number grade of Dexron is backwards compatible with a lower grade. You won't easily find Dexron II on the market anymore, but as long as you always put a Dexron grade equal to or higher than what you car recommends, you will be fine.
