Hey guys okay, long story short last week my front passenger window got smashed in and a few things got stolen.

Now i'm insured with Toyota Insurance *or whoever they are, but its from Toyota*. My question is getting the window repaired, would it be free and I won't have to pay an excess??? because I'm pretty sure I have that Window Protection thingy. Also I got a few things stolen in my car, now the insurance guy told me that they would cover up to $500 worth of stolen goods. Since I might be getting the window fixed for free because I'm pretty sure I have the window protection added to my insurance would I still need to pay for the excess to claim the $500? because if i do have to pay the excess i might as well dont worry bout claiming the stolen goods coz the excess for me is $750.

Sorry if I was not clear, I dont know how else I could have worded this. Any comments is appreciated.

Cheers

I can see where you are getting at with that one. You are probably best to discuss that with Toyota directly as they know their own product better. You would think in this scenario that you shouldn't need to pay an excess as that stolen good replacement should fall together with the windscreen replacement, but you never really know. It wouldn't seem logical to charge you an excess, butt if they can catch a sucker... they would.

yea i've been trying to call them today but apparently there's something wrong with their line. so i thought ill post it up here to see if anyone can shed some light :P

if you would care to read your pds, it will all be in there under "what to do in the event of an accident" section.

if there is any excess to be charged, you will usually be reimbursed the remittance after the claim liability has been determined. theft claims are difficult as usually the third party leaves no sign to trace them with.

however you may even have one excess free window claim on your policy that you can take advantage of.

as mentioned, read your pds and policy schedule like you're supposed to and you will find out! :)

windscreen replacement is different to window replacement. you will very likely have to pay all your excess as the party at fault cannot be identified.

alright just had a talk with the insurance company today and if i wanted to claim the $500 worth of stolen goods i would have to pay an excess fee.

since im only 21 my excess would be $750 so its not worth it, but i do have windscreen cover so i don't have to pay anything. car will be fixed tomorrow.

O'Brien will come down and fix the windscreen :D all good

alright just got back from work and had a good look at the car after O'Brien fixed the window.

here's the damage list:

Centre Piece a bit scratched on the passenger's side

Leather seat scratched :( i am extremely upset about this

Passenger door interior a bit scratched but not that noticeable.

Now to get all these fixed back to how it used to be what are my options? because the only option i can think of is going through Toyota which is not worth it at all

since they'll charge me thousands. or half of what the car is worth. it seriously pisses me off seeing my car in this sort of condition. i'm really close to wanting to sell it and getting another zr6. hurts me just looking at the car all scratched up like that.

if these were damged as part of the window incident (weather during repair or actually breaking) then you should be ableto call insurance company and have them fix it.. .

again chek with them & your PDS to ensure this though.

just called insurance yesterday and explained to them the situation and they said that they'll cover it.

i just need to go to Toyota Parts department and get quotes and then fax it to the insurance and they'll get an accessor on the job. So far the experience I've had with Toyota Insurance has been very good. Nice and quick. Will update once everything is done and completed.

Also does any one know of a good and reputable Panel Beater in Perth that would take care of the insurance for me?

Cheers!!!

Called up Toyota Part's Department and got a quote for all the stuff that I think needs replacing due to the incident.

Front Passenger Leather seat

Centre Console

Front Passenger Door Trim

All up this came to about $6500 supply only

Hopefully insurance would pay this. Will have to wait till Monday to give them a call as they are closed right now. *missed them by just 30min ><*
