Hi All,

What sort of spark plugs are the 2.4L 4cyl guys using.

I have a Sportivo and was looking on the Denso website and found the following;

Make: TOYOTA

Model: Camry

Engine: 2.4L 2AZFE ACV36R

Year: 2002 to 5/2006

Spark Plug: K20RU11 (SK20R11 40 series)

Iridium Power: IK20

Iridium Tough: VK20

Gap: 1.1 mm

Has anyone tried the Iridium Power plugs before?

Any improvements / Performance or Economy.

I recently got a set of NGK Iridium IX (BKR6EIX-11), but to say there is any real improvement would be stretching it I think. I guess the only real benefit would be longer lasting plugs, and maybe improvement life of the ignition system due to less power being drawn. (Or so it says on the box)

I'm pretty sure the standard Toyota spark plugs are actually Denso Iridium ones.

Since Denso advertise about some U-groove thing their plugs have, and so does Toyota in their service book about their spark plugs. Also on the Denso website, they say that they supply the Iridium Power plugs to Toyota as OE.

OEM plugs will 99.99% be Denso, considering Toyota own Denso...

And most cars come out with iridium plugs these days, mainly for longevity (especially for FWD V6s etc, where the rear bank of plugs is a pain to get to)

Looks like Iridium Power: IK20 are the ones for me!

The stock V6 plugs are not Iridiums. They are platinum ones which last about 150k. The Iridiums costs significantly more and only last about 75-100k. I changed my platinum plugs to the Iridiums, IK22 when I put the charger on as it is safer.

its funny how we are told to change spark plugs every 90k when they can last up to min 150k and beyond.

ive done 88k on my camry and cuz im due for a 90k major service, im supposed to replace them. i took them out and checked their condition - the bloody thing looks 70% good - approx lol. manufacturers these days.....

in asia (esp m'sia) standard toyota and nissan servicing make their plug change at 150k, so really, their just attaining more turnover of stock here in aust.

I;m using IK22's in my '96. But I'm boosted is why I'm running iridium.

Only use Denso or NGK Platinum or Iridium plugs in Toyota's.

Just replaced spark plugs with Denso IK20's.

So far so good!
