Hi everyone, there has been a bit of a break since the last Tampered Motorsport track day, so it is about time to give you all the details of the next one. Monday June 8th, which is the Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday, is set to be the next Tampered Motorsport Track Day. As always we will have some people available to give you some tips and to help you get the most out of your vehicle.

Entry Fee: $150 which includes Timing costs.

Spectators are more than welcome, and there is no cost to come and watch. Also you can go for a ride in the cars but you must sign on with a Passenger indemnity first. Due to the amount of passengers at previous events our insurer has put a small levy on passengers of $10. You can just pay this when you sign the forms at the Scrutineering office.

The day will kick off when scrutineering starts at 7:30am. You will need to do your paper work at the scrutineering office before you have your car checked. Please make sure you have removed all loose items from inside the car.

YOU WILL NEED:

Long sleeve and long pants of non flammable materials i.e. No Nylon

AASA license which can be bought on the day for $50 (these last for 12 months) or CAMS L2S

Closed footwear

Helmet that complies to Australian Standards (has ASA or Snell Sticker)

Car needs to be in a good condition, no oil leaks, no loose items in the car and battery secure.

Good condition tyres

Working seatbelt (give it a pull and make sure it locks)

All people wishing to attend need to make payment to the specified bank account. When you send your email with your details you will be sent an entry form as well as payment details. You will need to email the following details

Just that I'll be there on 23rd. See if I hadn't stack the car by then, might go again .....

      Anti theft code

      P0303, rough idle, check VSC message.

      Very happy to report success! I did it by just removing the cowl, didn't touch the plenum or anything else. I only changed the one plug and coil. They both look fine. The plug was a NGK DILFR6D11. The coil was a VDO brand. Replaced with the same plug $23 and a $55 coil from Goss Mechtronics. I used the masking tape method to mark the wipers position on the windscreen. I removed the right side bonnet strut at the top and used a stick to hold it open from the from. It made it much easier. Idle nice and smooth and the error code is gone. Fingers and toes are crossed. Thanks for the comments.

      Engine upgrade ideas for 1991 LN106 3L

      Looking for ideas on a reliable engine upgrade for a Hilux 1991 LN106 3L. Just in the early planning stages at the moment. Located in Queensland - reliability, "non-electronic" and road legal are main priority areas for me, happy to go turbo. Not looking for crazy perfomance but something better than the stock standard (and now tired) 3L. Any ideas fromt the brains trust would be great!

      Rear Tail lights - LED or normal bulbs

      Does anyone know if the rear taillights are LED or normal Bulbs? The brake lights dont appear to be working so i thought id check first before pulling it out.

      Thanks. I'm counting on the code being correct. 🤞 No apparent surging, just rough idle. It feels ok at a persistent 60kph but the engine warning light starts to flash at any acceleration thereafter. Slow and steady feels ok.       Poor performance, surging can also be related to dirty/clogged fuel filter I forget the maintenance schedule for these, but in any car it's more of a 'do when you need to' routine

      I fought with Toyota for the last 6 months on this issue. I attempted to reject my vehicle due to safety and Toyota began to investigate my request. During this time they offered me a new engine. I asked if a new engine would affect my rejection claim and they said no. After this they rejected my claim and I supposedly have no further argument as essentially the new engine was a satisfactory response to a major failure under consumer rights. After months Toyota still won't tell me what damage there was that required my engine to be replaced. Other than confirming carbon build up on the manifold months prior to engine replacement. They will not give me any information. Everyone I speak to tells me they cannot comment. I never wanted the repair because the problem is so common I don't feel the repair was enough to prevent a reoccurrence. I even asked for confirmation that a repair would be enough to prevent further occurrence and that the vehicle was safe and would no longer lose power on acceleration. They responded to this with a letter stating Toyota could not provide the information or guarantees I had requested.
