Noisy Tarago Engine

Hi,

I own a 2000 Tarago GLi, which has started to become noisy when the engine is cold, and then noise disappears when upto temperature. Can anyone suggest any reasons?

Tapping, Knocking?

Bit hard unless we know what sort of oise you have ...

I've got a similar problem. It sounds like bearings at the left end of the engine as you're looking at it from the front of the car, where the belts around the wheels (that drive the aircon etc ?) are. Only under load, eg, when in drive with the car stationary or almost stationary. Some research suggests the Supplemental Accessory Driveshaft problem, but I've only found references to this on the previous (mid-engine mounted) generation Tarago.

Any ideas anyone?

sounds tappety, almost like the noise an old diesel engine would make, except itsa petrol.

I had that in mine from when I bought it with about 120,000 km on the clock. 250 mL of methylated spirits in the crankcase with the engine running for 5 minutes before the oil change fixed it.

Ours used to do it, If it hasnt had an oil change recently ide simply try that with a slightly thicker oil then recommended, It shut the missus`s tarago up... If that dont work then time to look further in but process of elimination on a cheap oil change may just do the trick. Mabe the oil is a bit thin to bleed up properly.

Hi, my tarago has now gone in for service and I have been told it needs a new engine at a cost of $8000. Having only owned it for 7 months and driven 10,000Kms around town is there anyone who can help me decide on a course of action with the Toyota dealer I bought it from?

They even gave it a 120,000k service prior to me receiving it!
