Guys,

Anyone got any idea where to first look when the original boost indicator on the dash fails to move.

Would it be a vacuum hose? In all other respects all works fine.

Appreciate any quick fix or pointers.

Regards

obviously if the boost meter isnt working, it would naturally indicate the turbo hasnt got any pressure. i assume your car is driving ok otherwise, so it will be electrical.

your best bet would be to put a jumper wire between e1 and te1 on the diagnostic terminal in the engine bay and see what, if any, error codes the dash will display. if nothing comes of that, pull the dash display out and check for any faulty/loose connectors or corroded wires, maybe check the wires going into the connector for power using a voltmeter.

i'm not familiar with the 3s-gte, but there must be a sensor near or arround the turbo to measure the boost. that could be faulty as well.

Having owned an ST185 I learnt quick that the stock boost guage was a dud and didn't read true. So I installed an ST184 dash cluster and used an aftermarket boost guage.

When running the 184 dash in the boost symbols space it's replaced with a VOLTs meter which is much more useful.

So I would suggest dont let it do your head in as all it would be is an electrical problem. If you can get your hands on a 184 dash then replace it with that then get your hands on a boost guage.

Guys being new to this where can I source the error code translations?

Error codes can be found here:

Codes 1

Codes 2

That site also gives instructions on checking your codes.

As already mentioned, factory boost gauge is useless. Fit an aftermarket one if you want a real idea of your boost level.
