Hi, I live over here in New Zealand and I am relatively new to this forum and would like any suggestions from other 2002 to 2006 camry owners about the Auto Transmission fluid for these. The manual states Toyota type iv fluid but I am finding it difficult to find out exactly what breed of oil it is. You would think if it is stipulated to use this then it would be readily available. Some Toyota dealerships just say they use standard ATF and flush the system and do not seem to worried about the type iv stipulation. Any suggestions.

Toyota Type-IV is a Toyota specific fluid. I heard a while back some aftermarket companies were coming out with it, but still yet to see any. I live in the US. I did a drain and fill on my mom's '05 and got the T-IV at my local dealer for it.

just use the current toyota branded atf fluid and you have nothing to worry about. they meet the specific requirements of toyotas transmissions

i would also recommend against flushing your transmission. generally a lot of crap settles, and flushing it disturbs it and then you can risk clogging torque converters, diffs, etc. sometimes more harm than good is done. a simple drain of the transmission and diff and then refill is the best to do
