Fuel consumption in new Corolla

Recommended Posts

First - the posted pictures of the Stivo's are great - makes me wonder why I bought a assent wagon  - apart from the $$

Second - does anyone know what sort of fuel efficiency a new car (corolla) should have? I am just about to clock the first 1000Km on the new assent, and I have had two tanks used up (100L) - Is this normal for a new car?

Someone told me that it was because the car was being run-in. Is this true?

Even I I factor in city driving, the current rate seems to be at around 11L / 100Km :o ... the book says an average of 7.7L / 100Km (but does not specify whether this is during the first 1000Km.)

Any assitance / information would be helpful.

Now back to drooling over those Stivo pics!

I've been keeping tabs on our Conquest wagon's fuel economy (an auto) and its averaging just on 8 litres/100 km after 13,000km.

The worst tankful was just over 10, that was pretty much all around town, the car had done approx. 5,000km at the time, so it had settled by then.

The best I've seen is a low 7 (7.3 from memory - my records are on a recently-crashed PC) which was all highway running with cruise control, that was Christmas time so we had air-con and boot full, around 10,000km on the clock.

Fuel Consumption on the post-facelift corolla is the same as the pre-facelift corolla. Minor changes to styling only guys!

Also, here we go again, use the search function; this topic has been covered numerous times before, come on <edit>.

I have a manual 04 acsent hatch with about 6700ks on the clock. running straight unleaded I worked out my car would cover 12.87km on 1 litre.

therefore 12.87 x 7.7 (book figure for fuel over 100km) = 99.099km.

This is with me driving mostly suburbia with the weekly run on the freeway. I don't exactly granny drive the car either.
