Does any body know if this is normal?

There seems to be a gap and you can actually see the filter just in the bottom left corner.

There is one area that you can see a bit the air filter so it is ok. I thought the same thing first time removed/replaced the filter.

Cheers Supa!

I was kicking my self for not taking a picture before hand.

Is my filter dirty? I really don't know. Ive got another 5000K until my next scheduled service.

Yeah. The gap is completely normal. I've seen the guys over at Toyota Nation ask it again and again as well with common answers. It's common among all of them. If you look at the filter when you remove it, you will see how that edge of the filter actually helps to form a seal for the air box without the need for rubber.

It will be fine until your next service. The white filter medium doesnt stay white for long!
