You might want to add a few things.

Car model/Year: 2005 Corolla Sportivo

KM on engine: currently approx 66,000km

Current engine oil: HPR 0, 0W-40

Price: Got it at discount; $50ish

Current gear oil: Royal Purple gear oil, 75W-90; also Nulon G70 gear addititive.

Price: Royal purchased at discount, $75ish for 3 quarts.

Nulon G70 approx $17.00

Notes: 0W-40 a bit too thin for the Perth summer ;)

Possible future engine oil: Just purchased Nulon 10W-40, was approx $55.00

Possible gear oil: Not changing anytime soon...

Also in regards to what is the 'best' oil, I think that most oils are good. As long as you service it regularly and keep it topped up, the engine will run for a long time.

Car Model/Year : 2005 Sportivo

Km on Engine: 50 000

Current Engine Oil: Mobil1 0W-40 full synthetic

Price: $70 per 5L bottle

Current Gear Oil: Stock

NOTES: Used to run Motul 300V Chrono 10W-40 but at $105 for 4L, it was getting too much. Mobil1 0W-40 seems good. I change it every 7500k's and use TRD oil filters.

Possible future Gear Oil: Motul Gear 300. Used it in my S14 and really like it.

Car Model/Year: 2005 Sportivo

Km on Engine: 70000KM

Current Engine Oil: TRD Sports Pro

Possible Future Engine Oil: Motul Chrono 300V 10W40, Amsoil 10W40, or Penrite SIN 10W50

Possible future Gear Oil: Redline 75W90.

What is the best fully synth oil that you can get for an automatic Toyota tranny?

I know that for Nissan it was Castrol Transmax Z, stuff was really pricey for 4 litres ($60-70).

Posted

Current Engine Oil: Fuchs 10-40w (recom from this forum)

Price: $45

Current Gear Oil: Magnatec 75-90, after much trying, gives best feel, Chicaboo attest I have great sportivo gearbox

Price: $22 and needed 3 bottles.

The fuchs lasts about 7500km, but that's probably the way I drive it.

I've also heard from a couple of transmission specialists that Transmax Z is the best.

Current Engine Oil: PM Lubricants 20w50

Price: $11 odd per litre

Possible future Engine Oil:

Possible future Gear Oil: PM Lubricants 50w90 EP. Will look at blending in some thinner oil if changes are still notchy.

Hey,

im not 100% sure... so i'll give a generic answer

most people use the magnetec cos the price is quite fair.. i know mates that use it in stivo, 180sx, 200sx, accord euro, pt cruiser, civic and they rekn its fine...

since there seems to be a price difference, there must be a subtle difference...

whatever you end up getting just make sure its fully synthetic...

However, just to be sure, you should pm 'Superdave' they might be more knowledgeable.

Or just hit up the Castrol sponsor guy and u can ask him straight... there's a thread in the sponsor section.

Hey,

I'm just curious, what would the best oil be for a Newcastle winter? I guess the temps aren't that different from Sydney but I didn't know that either :P

EDIT - By best, I mean 10w-30 etc, not brand.

i found motul gearoil made alot of difference for the ae112r. (cleaner changes)

and previously used penrite 15-30w engine oil with not to bad results.

going to try redline gear oil next.
