weird electrical problem

Ive been driving my 2002 Camry Advantage for about 3 years now, and have really been enjoying it. However it has an intermittent problem that is really irritating.

Every now and then, it develops a problem where it momentarily loses power going to the stereo and headlights/dash lights. There appears to be no effect on the motor, no stutter in the drive. When the problem occurs, it reoccurs every few seconds or every few minutes. Then, it disappears and may not come back again for a a day, a week, a month, 3 months - totally random.

I asked the mechanic I take it to, if it was something he could look for, and he told me that unless its something he can see happening (of course its never happening then) and even if he can, it might be a wild goose chase to find it. The alternator and battery have both been tested and fine.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

I'd be looking at the wiring in the instrument panel. Have you had any aftermarket work carried out, for example a new stereo fitted?

I have only had the car for 3 years. The stereo is stock though, the only non-stock thing about the car is the fact that it is dual fuel... I run it mostly on LPG
