Hi guys ive just bought a 94 camry station wagon and have just found out the head gasket is gone :( .... my question is would it be worth getting it fixed or am i better off buying a second hand engine? or even selling it as parts?

what motor is in it... the 4cyl or the v6... can you do the work yourself? and where are you located?

its a 4cyl,ive never worked on a motor before and im from wollongong NSW. sorry i forget to put this info in my first post lol

Getting the work done or a new motor swapped in would probably be expensive then.

I would be seeing what it costs for a mechanic to do it, and weighting it up against getting rid of the car.

replacing the head gasket would be alot less work then a replacement engine

this is true, but getting a mechanic to do a head gasket is still going to be alot!

I'd definitely prefer to be doing heads on a 5SFE over a 3VZFE!

I believe it'd be around 5-7 hour's labour plus parts. It really comes down to the experience of the mechanic at the end of the day.
