How do you maintain / protect your interior leather ??

Recommended Posts

As I picked up my Aurion technically as 2nd hand (8000km), I noticed that neither paint nor leather protection was initially taken up.

Being the first vehicle we've owned with leather, we're not sure what maintenance / protection scheme we need to implement on the leather.

Is it just a case of keeping clean with a soft damp rag or is it supposed to be 'treated' as such.

I prefer to use these two products:

- Autoglym Leather Cleaner: http://www.autoglym.com/enGB/product-proddetail.asp?v06VQ=FD&Range=1

- Autoglym Leather Care Balm: http://www.autoglym.com/enGB/product-proddetail.asp?v06VQ=EJIJ&Range=1

These were recommended in another thread by 'lateralus' IIRC, and I am quite satisfied with them.

Edit: Here is the thread I was referring to:

The dealer which your bought your car off should be able to help you out with a Wynns paint/rust and fabric/leather protection package but honestly the gear you can buy from repco or autobarn will do the job aslong as you keep at the leather every few months :)

Mate we were offered paint/leather protection when we bought our new ZR6,but if you read the fine print re; the warranty for these products if you use any other products for washing the car, cleaning the leather, then you automatically void the warranty offered and I sure as sh*t was not going to pay the rediculous price for a litre of car wash required.

As for the leather conditioner we use a product called ( GLITZ )made in USA available at any Bunnings store. It waterproofs, preserves, conditions and it maintains that new car smell.

Before you take my word for it, open a tub and see for yourself, rub a small amount on your leather wallet and see for yourself before you buy it.But dont feel bad about not having paint and leather protection done,

Hope that helps you out Steve

Well said Steve ,the protection plan offered by the dealership is Over priced and with unresonable conditions.

Dont really know how ACCC approves something like that but it is legit .

On the subject of "GLITZ" , how much is it priced at ?

I love the "new car smell" bit . :) Thats the thing i love about buying cars from the dealership.Get a bit disappointed when the smell fades and the car smells like me .

So it appears most people in this thread like the Glitz, however in other threads the preference is AutoGlym or Meguires leather treatment.

Anyone tried all and able to provide a recommendation?

Your all wrong!

http://www.zas.com.au/product/95/prima_nourish_leather_conditioner_473ml.html

Smells Beautiful and brings the leather back to a nice condition in our VW and Discovery.

In fact I recommend the whole Prima Car Care range
