Brand new Prado 2022 with intermittent engine/transmission stutter
Hi, back in February this year I spent $80k on a brand new Toyota Prado GXL from Sunsine Toyota in the Sunshine Coast. This is the first time I've owned a Toyota and whilst I'm generally happy with the vehicle I am beginning to get concerned with a subtle stutter that happens at random times when driving the vehicle. I haven't been able to figure out if it is an engine-related stutter or a transmission stutter, but it appears to happen when the the engine is revving at about 1500rpm and under a bit of load (so for example when starting to climb up a slightly inclined road). It isn't something that can be heard (so it doesn't appear to be engine misfire) but you can feel the stutter, which makes me think it could be a transmission issue. I haven't discussed this with the Toyota dealer yet because, since this happens randomly, I'm thinking it will be hard to convince their technicians that there may be an issue with the car if I take them out for a test drive and the stutter doesn't happen. So I thought I'd post my experience on this forum to see if anyone else has experienced something similar, and if they have, what the outcome has been? Keen to hear from you.- engine stutter

Engine Oil Change Interval
Yep except I test drive my car's after I do the work to prove its ok before I button everything & close her up. Not being satisfied with one test drive, I did another the following day & I almost instantly smelt the fumes. I filled the tank up the previous night & after deliberately trying to slosh the fuel about violently via quick left right steering manoeuvres & sudden braking she leaked & leaked well. Easy fix 👍- change interval

I remember that video. Some numb nut put a real dodgy aftermarket headlight connector and was wondering why the headlight keeps burning bulbs. Always pays to check the smallest details. I have future proofed myself by purchasing many Original Toyota spare parts both new and good used items. As for cooling system, I have all the relevant hoses in stock should at any time they look like they are due for replacement. Probably won't be for a very long time I imagine. The Original parts are very high quality. -

Coolant level...
Just viewed this recent YouTube video by The Car Nut and was interested in the "Under Hood Inspection". I found it so worthwhile that I immediately went and checked the top of my radiator for any leaks. Fortunately there were none but it was the telltale sign for when I did have to replace the radiator on my now departed 1998 Toyota Camry. Radiator hoses have previously been checked and appeared to be in good condition with no leaks, bulges or soft areas. Assuming that they are original and now 15+years old, I have bought replacement hoses. -

Engine Oil Change Interval
Yes. I am happy doing it at between 7 and 8K. I have plenty of oil to get through so it makes perfect sense.- change interval
