Hey guys

On Saturday I installed the TRD CAI...

Woo hoo... how good is that induction sound! :D

it was a very stressful 3 hours, especially since the TRD instructions bear very little relevance to the OZ model.

Want to send a very very big thankyou to Danthuyer for his help and phone calls on Saturday. Without his help I would still be there tearing my hair out.

The 2zz sounds like a bloody F1 engine once it hits lift (exaggerating i know). People turn aound and look, and my exhaust is stock! Even put a smile on my girlfriend when she heard it.

<_< ;) :) :D B)

Only too glad to help Davin :D I know how frustrating the install can be by looking at those installation instructions.

As soon as someone in Brisbane gets a new one I will make full doco that can replace the one sent with it.

That or I'll just rip mine out and do it for fun :D

Glad to hear another happy TRD CAI owner is here. Now for that LSD ;)

TRD CAI rocks hey! All my mates say they can hear the 2ZZGE's scream even with their windows up and their cars at full throttle! :D

thanks, its pretty expensive though. Is there anything special about the TRD. Just thinking it may be cheaper to use the simota plumbing into the bumper, and use a k&N pod filter. May yield same results.

I agree. It seems quite expensive for CAI.

That is the price i got it for, u might find it chepear elsewhere but because it is manufactured in the USA exchange rate plays a major role in the cost. It is also a baulky item to freight hence comes in a BIG box. $450 included freight.

You can get Simota which is 2.5inch piping not 3inch like AEM or TRD for a couple of hundred less. The TRD CAI is never going to be cheap because they have been R&D'd on 2ZZGE engines to work perfect and is even warranted by Toyota in the USA.

i agree all TRD stuff seems expensive but its all imported parts isnt it

i wanna go all TRD with all my upgrades on my car but it may cost too much extra compared to other parts to stick with strictly TRD

i was thinking TRD CAI but with a lukey exhaust system as i can get a better price cus ive had heaps of work done before from there

Trust me guys, you won't regret getting the TRD CAI. No one here with it fitted has had a bad comment about it except a few that had the rubber elbows fitted incorrectly, which splitted it but was replaced by Bruce. But other than that its one of the best engine mods and probably the best bang for buck mod for the 2ZZGE ;)

If i buy a TRD CAI.. can someone in melb help me install it?

perhaps a slab of your choice would be required :P

motoman - check out the workshop section for my guide on the installation - or you can always call me on my mobile. Davin did.....im thinking he's glad he did too :D

The CAI topic is almost as hot as the dyno one..hahaha mx83 has a point but in the same sence the TRD gear is very expensive for what it is.

Hey guys dont forget Warwick from Bowater!!!!!!!! in NZ he also can get cheap TRD gear.
