I have a 2003 Camry Sportivo 2.4L. The drivers's side brake light has now blown 3 times. It is the bulb that blows, not the fuse.

The bulb does not blow straight away. The first time I replaced the bulb it lasted many months, maybe even a year. The last time I replaced it it lasted a couple of months or so.

All other lights work, including the passenger side brake light, spoiler brake light, indicators, tail lights and reversing lights.

The blown bulb is slightly blackened but the filament looks to be in place. This is the case with all 3 blown bulbs thus far.

Seems like it might be a simple one to fix but I don't know where to start.

Is it possible it is simply the type of bulb I am using. I am using the correct bulb in terms of wattage/voltage but it is not the original type used by Toyota.

Thanks
