hi, recently bought a 1991 sv21 auto trnsmission 210ks on the clock,the transmission kind of jumps around at about 40 to 60km/h at first i thought it was an engine miss, so had engine and transmission serviced, tranny oil was clean, but still have this problem, it does not really swap gears it is like a surge,would like to fix it as it is a good car, any advice would be very appreciated, regards all

Did the same people do the engine and transmission service? Was the transmission flushed, bands adjusted, filters cleaned or replaced? What did they say about the problem with the transmission?

the same workshop did the engine and transmission service,they said they adjusted the bands and changed the fluid and filter. went back to them after the services and showed them the problem, they said the problem was maybe in the valve case, a spring might of lost tension,said it would be very expensive to fix,talked to another shop and said they never had a problem with a sv21 auto box,heard from another source that there were electronic sensors maybe at fault

3 different places and 3 different answers, which makes it a little confusing, of where to start. Do the other 2 places you went to just do auto transmissions? If not, speak to an auto transmission specialist for their opinion. Sounds like the car needs to be hooked up for a diagnostic check for any fault codes or faulty sensors. Keep us posted.

hi, thanks OZZCADDY, for the sound advice, the local mechanic will take the camry for a test drive tomorrow, he did his time with toyota , other than that, next time Iam in the big smoke will take it to a auto trans specialist and get the diagnostic checked, regards
