I am possibly looking to sell the good old kluger 2008 kxs to upgrade to a bigger (real) 4x4 with 7 seats too, sunroof, centre and rear diff locks, low range, adjustable air suspension which goes up to 300mm!, 50 way adjustment front seats, heated front and middle rows, V8 power.

It is 2nd hand so no warranty except for the 3month stat warranty, whereas i have 2 years warranty left on the kluger.

Should i?? Please help! im debating on whether to release it or ge the new one over 5 years for just $40 a forthnight more!

I'm not sure how I can help your decision, but I would like to know what your Kluger is worth is a trade-in!

Petrol price are likely to go up further in near future, I would suggest for a V8 pls keep that in mind too on top of $40 fortnightly.

Are you looking at Sahara or some other 4WD? I found Sahara very comfy and spacious from inside.

do you reeaally need the V8 and will you use it for what its made for (i.e. true 4x4ing?)

I wouldn't recommend it personally... why pay for all the maintainance costs for one or two 4x4 trips per year (if that) when your kluger would porbably get you most places you'd want to go.

Yeah, i know the smart choice is to keep the kluger

But always wanted a V8 and having extra offroad ability would be fantastic(not that i would do serious offroading, plus it is much much more luxurious/

we had an overnight test drive, and drop it back from where we like back to city, 45km trip, kluger averaged 13.8L/100km and the v8 was 14.5L/100km! I was amased! It wasnt much more than the v6

For the price of the new kluger grande AWD, i think this is great value. Was $170k new!

how many km's?

Good car, acres of room, just don't do too many of those 0-100km dashes if you want to have any reasonable consumption figures..lol

It was a dealer but not a merc dealer, dont worry i called the dealer it was services in and it has a good history. Yeah i know, just 1 x 0-100 dash per week....

You should have said it was the Merc GL. Nice one!!! I almost bought an ML320 in 2005, but the insurance was crazy.

I found insurance for $800! OMG its actually cheaper than my kluger lol

I am now investigating my other insurance options with this new company, no it aint youi! lol they came in at $1800!

wohoo i get the new car next thursday.

Does any need new kluger tyres only 245 55 19 for kxs and grande? i have 5 tyres, 1 brand new and 4 with delivery kms. As new.

Best offers, will seperate in lots of 2,2 & 1.

Remember they are $500 each.

Offered $35k trade in for kxs as shown in profile with towbar.

Toyota only offered me $32k(and i bought it from them)

My Toyota dealer offered me 37.5k then 39k for my KX-S (2008 AWD) as a trade in, I told the snake oil seller to shove it! and got much much more selling it private, and only took 2 days from me listing the ad as well :)

My new FJ Cruiser cost me SFA! much happier that I got it and bailed out of the Kluger, not cause its a bad car just I am not homo enough to be a Kluger man, the car never ever really did it for me. It was just a piece of metal to get me from A to B, I admired it, just I did not ever love it.

You will get good money for a Kluger now as Japan is rooted and no one can get a car + the KX-S has just gone up in price too! lets not forget ours cars are radiation free too ;)

The kluger is gone, the merc is fantastic!!!!

Learning new stuff every minute. Yeah $34k for the 08 kxs wasnt bad, probably could have got more private but it would have been a hassle.

Congrats on the new car. Parents also drive a W164 ML320CDI, basically the GL's slightly shorter cousin (One of two units special ordered in Silver/ Beige color combination in WA at the time.), and they love it to bits! Same year too! I'm sure you'll really enjoy your car. Wished ours had the extra leather trim on the doors, like on the GL & Edition10/ facelift ML-class.

Call me nerdy, but I always love how the car goes 'ding' every time I put it in park. heheh

Oh,and here's one of the ads in the US. :lol:

Yep thats my car lol

Seen that add when i was looking for offroad clips of the gl. Smart advertising which doesnt need speed to win customers over.

      Wherring noise engine bay when idle unsure if this is normal

      Could be an Idler pulley, Alt bearing, water pump bearing, remove the drive belt and spin individually and listen fand feel for roughness, then start engine and see if noise is gone with belt off

      Toyota want $460 for the in dash clock , so i repaired the original , just re soldered the dry joint on the supply thermistor on the circuit board.The only difficult thing is to unclip the two connectors because the clips are located at the back.

      I've got an evakool 85litre and love it. It looks a bit wierd with the compressor on the outside but gives a nice big box shape inside with 2 baskets, which allow it to work as a fridge freezer.

      Fuel range displayed

      Have got a 2017(I think) Prado we've replaced the standard multi media unit for a pioneer unit. We've lost the ability to see the range and fuel consumption. Is there a way to get this back?

      E-BAY Door Locks

      Hi just wanting to know if anyone has purchased a new Ignition lock/ switch & Door Lock Barrels complete with 2 new keys for Hilux 97-2005 Interested in how they have performed, and their longevity compared to original. had a squiz and you can get 2 new door barrels, ignition lock, new breakaway screws, 2 keys for around $40-$50

      Change Low Beam Headlamp on 2003 Corolla...

      Problem solved - and a correction: read above instead "...ABS assembly..." How? User a pair of long-nose pliers to gently pull one of the "ears" of the rubber dust cover and loosen it. After removing that it was still a tight squeeze, but the bulb was accessible.

      Tyres...... a sticky topic.....

      Good morning fellow members, 2017 Toyota Camry RZ tyre size 225/45R18 I recently installed Good Year Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 tyres after doing "just a bit" of research, these are in the same class as Pilot Sport 5 tyres but circa $50 per tyre cheaper (they are fairly evenly matched with each just outperforming the other in certain sections). I have previously used Bridgestone RE003's, Bridgestone Potenza Sports, as well as the original Bridgestone ER300 that came with the car. I decided against the RE003 because the last time that I had them fitted (which is what I just had replaced), the quality just wasn't there... the sidewall protection was all but gone, and they SEEMED like they had less grip than I remember them having (when I had them fitted to the same car previously). Which is very subjective since I previously had fitted the Potenza Sport tyres, but again it just felt off. I decided against the Potenza Sport because as pretty much EVERY review on them mentions and which I noticed..... that the tyre wear is excessive, and they don't start with a lot of tread depth either. Due to my "spirited driving" at times I preference grip over fuel economy, and I wanted the tyres to last longer than previous tyres. After a few hours of research I settled on the Good Years and even waited for them to come back into stock. My thoughts so far? Instantly feeling the car rolling better.. without any noticeable loss in grip. What I mean in regards to rolling better relates to both "off throttle rolling" and how much throttle is needed to accelerate / maintain speed. So far I have been impressed with my first long distance drive, but due to the many variables it is hard to say whether certain fuel figures are the new norm or if they are the result of the new tyres and oil used (oil change was months before the tyre change). The problem is that I usually only do short trips (to and from work), and even these have many variables. But based on previous experience in regards to cruising speeds, the most optimal to keep it just under 2000 RPM was 106 km/h (speedo indication), but now doing 110 km/h would still have me just under 2000 RPM. Leaving Easter Saturday starting from the Shell fuel station as you're leaving Newcastle in a Westerly direction to Taren Point in Southern Sydney, non-stop with flowing traffic and leaving at circa 9am with temps 20-28 deg C yielded a fuel economy of 5.7L / 100km The engine oil that I'm currently using is Shell Helix Ultra 0W20 So the combination of the 2 yielded the result BUT I did the oil change several months before, so I am able to confidently say if what I noticed after changing the tyres was from the Engine oil or the new tyres. Just though I would post this in case anyone else is in the market for tyres.
