G'day all

Its my first post so be nice too me :D

So ive got a 1994 Camry Widebody, and ive had this weird issue 3 times in the last 2 years where basically im not getting full battery voltage (12v) to my electrics of the car.

2 times its happened when attempting to start (ie walk out, unlock doors, put key in, turn to ignition, and all the lights are a little dimmer than normal but not dull, then when i go to start, they all just go out). The car does not crank over and all accessories go out (though they go off in the crank position anyway). Also when the lights are dull, if i do things like flick my headlights on and such, i heard the headlight relays just chattering in and out like theres not enough voltage to keep them energized.

Then about 5-10 mins later, suddenly everything comes back to life, all lights on and bright, headlights and such work, car cranks and fires up like it just rolled out of the factory, runs and drives perfectly (except for a gearbox issue i might question you guys about later :P), no signs it ever had an issue.

It'll be fine for atleast 6 months then suddenly it happens again. This has also happened once while driving, was sitting in a parking spot idling, 5 mins later drove out, got 10 meters up the street, car out coughed once or twice, then stalled, had dull lights and everything for 5-10 mins then bang fine again for another 6 months.

I've had an auto electrician mate have a quick look at it though he said since theres no problem at the time its a bit hard to find the issue, he just checked all the places hes had problems on camry's before, ie Earth under the battery/top of gearbox/battery terminals/battery its self is fine, starter/alternator terminals, the big black plug behind the drivers strut tower that has battery connections for inside in it.

He checked some big plug under the drivers side dash behind the fusebox, also the visually inspected the electrical part of the ignition switch and he said they all looked fine

So can anyone help me, are there any other common places or problems that might cause an issue like this?

This problem happened again tonight and i just don't want to live with the fear of the car cutting out or not starting randomly anymore

Thanks for any info anyone can provide :D
