Aftermarket Varex System

Recommended Posts

Was thinking the other day after watching a

Would there be such a thing say as an aftermarket device that you could weld in yourself?

Check the image for what I'm thinking.

The user would cut their exhaust system somewhere along the piping.

The user would then buy a Varex that had specific diameter piping and then weld it up & be able to use it just like a normal varex system with butterfly valves which control the pitch of the exhaust?

Has this been done before and is available to purchase?

Or do Varex have IP patents on the full design?

Seems like a simple idea to me, but then again I don't know that much about exhausts, and the one thing I was thinking is that the butterfly valve would cause back pressure issues?

Just my .02, now whats yours on this idea?

i did that on my TRD Aurion.

dropped the centre resonator and installed a cannon style varex in its place.

a lot of people say they are sh!t, but it worked for me and created the desired effect. (loudish on open and quiet on close)

steven has the exhaust on his car now and doesnt have the same result, not sure why though.

in summary, yes, it can be done. just buy a normal varex muffler and get the exhaust shop to fit it for you.

Its not something I'm after at the moment, but just checking if there was anything like it that anyone had seen, that you could get say for $100 and just get it welded inline your exhaust system somewhere.

But I'm doing design and technology and thought maybe I could manufacture something on the cheap to install :D

Will see how I go with it.

Probably won't have a remote control though :P
