Corolla AE101 and the word of LEVIN

I remember when I was 11 years old and in Hong Kong, this Corolla Levin impress me a lot.

I start to think the word LEVIN actually originated from this car, and I do always think the LEVIN model actually has more power. However, now I think Toyota Australia has miused the word LEVIN.

I really like this corolla, and why I cannot see this car in Australia?

I always thought Levin started from the AE86 series. I'm not sure why Australia stuck with the Levin naming convention with the other corollas.

There's heaps of Import AE101 Levin's and Trueno's in QLD, quite a few AE92 and AE111 Levin's also.

the Levin originated back from the AE85/86 era alongside with the trueno, but australia didn't used this name until they selling the Ae11X series corollas and they the ones here sold never inherit the same performance as the Japanese model had besides the name badge

i ask as the corolla has the been most boring car i've driven...

the older IRS corolla's handle much better than the current torsion-beam setups, if you get a FWD levin or trueno with superstrut suspension that isn't worn out then you'll find their handling even better.

I know pippy had an eye-opening experience when he first drove my old AE92 levin after driving his turbo ZZE, couldn't believe how much better the AE92 handled.

I was so close to buying a fully rebuilt ke20 before I got my ZRE. I love these old corollas so much especially the te27.
