Can TRD shock absorbers ("re-tuned for higher spring rates and incorporating internal rebound springs" according to offical blurp) be fitted on AT-X model and combined with standart AT-X spring?

Has anybody tried it? With what effect?

Or is it just bad idea...

Thanks.

Why would you bother? You may as well change the springs while you are at it. Typically a shock absorber is suited to a particular spring in terms of giving optimal results. Mixing and matching like what you have said does not necessarily translate to better performance. On that topic of things, you can clearly see one difference between the TRD shocks and the Sportivo shocks. I'm sure it would be different yet again with the AT-X shocks:

Shock absorber. You can see the TRD one on the left is slightly shorter:

Thank you.

Looks like it is not the way to go.

I just wanted to see how my ATX would behave with firmer shocks (the car has 95000km, and I did not necessarily wanted firmer springs). I do not know enough about suspensions to feel confident chosing third party shocks (although all that marketing hype about shocks with firmness different to high and low piston speeds, adjustable compression and rebound force, etc sounds exciting :-) So rather than messing up the suspension completely, I thought getting TDR shocks would be a safer choice (since the car's weight/ dimensions are roughly same).
