A friend of mine told me that gen 5 Camry (V6 only)/Avalon are being recalled for potential steering problems. Anyone know the details and VIN numbers affected?

I have Gen 5 Camry Altise V6 and have not experienced any steering problems (so far).

I've had the fuel tank on the camry recalled about 5-6 years ago.. but never also had steering problems... although I think you should wait for one of the v6 owners to come in.:)

The Toyota website has the public announcement - drive belt may be unable to turn with possible loss of power steering *assistance* (like in the 70's).

Make sure your details are up-to-date (check your warranty book for the form), as notice will be given by mail.

It states on the toyota website; """This safety recall is a preventative action. Customers can continue to drive their vehicles.""

So its nothing major, but do get the vehicle checked once you receive the lette in the mail..
