Hi all,

I own a 1998 Celica, was wondering if it was possible to link the "dud" brake lights to the actual brake light circuit, and if so, how? Cheers.

I am unsure if there are already holes for a globe holder but if there are just go to a wrecker and find one that fits. If you want stop/tail function you will need to take the appropriate one for the twin filament globe. Make sure you get it from a similar model Toyota to match the wire colors. That will make it look a little more legitimate

Remove a small portion of the insulation from the rear harness in your car and join the wires in for the new ones.

Usually the best method of tapping into an existing harness is to 'twist & solder' the join and then use insulation tape to cover the complete area where you joined it in.

There is a dodgy way to do this job but I won't elaborate on that. If in doubt remove any panels from in the back of the boot that cover the globe holders and take it to an auto electrician and ask if they can fit the job in. It should only take a few minutes to do but expect to be charged for about a half hour as this is the usual minimum fee.

P.S.

It is normal etiquette to introduce yourself to people you meet before you ask their advice. This is the recommended procedure on this and most of the forums I have visited.

You may want to go back and have a go at the intro.

Thanks very much for that. Many apologies for the faux pas, I wasn't really sure just how much of a preamble was expected.
