I was told by a few guys not to use the redline range of gearbox oils in my car so i opted for Nulon smooth shift which has been fine , also was nowhere near as dear as the redline stuff...

For future reference if anyone searches about the oil.

Shockproof is good oil, just don't use it in a gearbox with synchronisers, ie, anything other than a race box.

Plenty of boxes have been stuffed because of it, and I don't care what the Redline PR machine says. Reality > marketing.

The M90 etc is probably fine, but never used it, I use Motul.

as some people on the forum already know i work with gearboxes all day long,so i have had the oppurtunity to trial a lot of different oils in my 6 speed 2zz gearbox, i would recommend either castrol vmx80 or the best oil i have found for both shift and protection is penrite "semi syn manual trans" <thats what is written on the bottle. but if it has had the shockproof oil in it i would go for the castrol vmx80 as it will wash the synchros out better than any other oil and get your shift back up to where it was before. basically the shockproof oil gunks up the synchro so it doesnt slow the gear down as well as it should......
