Hi all,

I have just put a new water pump on a friends run about car.

It’s a 93 Holden Apollo 4 cyl.

Whilst doing the pump I back flushed the motor, this meant that I disconnected the top radiator hose. When the job was done I only push the top radiator hose on DID NOT clamp it ( what an idiot)

Anyway the next day I filled it up with coolant and started the car after it was idling for say 10 mins and was near operating temp the top hose BLEW off and sprayed water everywhere.

I let the car cool down ,,replenished the radiator and started the car again it started fine but after running for 5 mins it started to miss a bit then it just stopped.

If I try to start it now it has no spark response at all it just wines over.

The timing belt has not slipped off or skipped teeth

I guess may be now water has entered the distributor and fried something, as I have check lots of wires/connections.

I have taken the dizzy cap off and just with a rag tried to clean it up,, but I can’t see any evidence of water.

Has anyone got any idea’s I don’t know much about the parts inside the dizzy that may be fried.

Thanks Gilbert............

You can pull a plug and earth the contact to the valve cover to test for spark, just keep your hand well away from the plug.
