Incorrect Pin for stereo

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a replacement stereo for my wifes rav4 off Ebay, iI believe it is from a Hilux or Prado. pzq60-00031 is the serial number on it.

It is the 6 disc changer with bluetooth.

It seems the PIN given to me by the seller is incorrect, is there a way around it with out going to a Toyota dealer, and would they help me anyway as it is not original equipment?

Also how many attampts do I get before I'm locked out for good?

Any good company that deals with car stereos should be able to get you the PIN, some cars the PIN is calculated from the seial number and others the radio needs to be pulled apart to read some of the info inside it to get the PIN, I wouldn't imagine that they would charge too much for this.

RADIO CODE IF BATTERY FAILS YOU HAVE 10 APPEMPTS

I went to check my code & VIN.NUM

Guess what?

It is the last 3 digits of the VIN.

Toyota secret is unfold.

OR

3 digit code before carrying out the procedure.

The letters SEC should be displayed on the radio.

1. Turn the ignition on so that only accessories are powered.

2. Hold the TUNE ^ button and the 1 button at the same time until three lines appear.

3. Using the 1 button, press until the first digit of the code appears, using the 2 button press until the second digit of the code appears, using the 3 button press until the third digit of the code appears.

4. Hold the SCAN button until SEC appears on the display and disappears.

The car audio system is now enabled. FOUND THIS ON HERE IN ANOTHER SECTION

^ Lol its not exactly a secret

But from my experience with 8/10 cars the last 3 digits of the vin won't work

Think its the dealers who set the pin...not too sure though
