Rare Toyota model via Toyota company

After talking to Toyota about the model Toyota Crown Super Saloon 1981, I was suprised when they stated that the 1981 model had Engines made by others due to demarned on Toyota at that time, the Engine was subed out to a very reliable Company who im not sure to be honest, although I have it by others that it was another Jap Company under supervision via Toyota, if anybody knows more let me know, if you look at book values you may not find a 1981 model mentioned, 1980 yes 1982 yes but not 1981..........regards Ray

Yamaha perhaps, they have had engine partnerships with toyota before.

Yamaha developed the cylinder heads for the Toyota 4AGE series of engines. So a partnership with them makes sense.

Also developed 3S-GE/GTE heads as well, how do I know? Mine has a big Yamaha stamp on it.
