Hi,

Have just bought my first Hilux, but I want to get rid of the big Toyota sticker from the tailgate? Any ideas that wont damage the paint?

Try a hairdryer to soften it and peel it off maybe

Hi mick, yeah I heard that some guys got there sticker of with a hairdryer, have talk to panelbeater if your not quiet sure, but the hairdryer should do the trick, I personally like the big toyota sticker on the tailgate, but each to their own.

I'll give the hair dryer a go and let you know ...

Just not a fan of the big sticker .... reminds me of the tramp stamp tattoo's chicks get on their lower back! :whistling:

Mine's stamped into the metal-very difficult to remove! At least those behind know what you're driving, and to keep clear.

I took mine off with a hair dryer but some of the glue remained. To remove the glue get some orange oil goo remover and one of those fluffy buffing pads (for drill attachment, sander or buffer). Apply a bit of the goo remover and then go over the area with the buffer. Worked a treat for me! Keep in mind that the paint around the sticker may have faded so you may still be able to see the writing for a while. Hope this helps!

I've removed that sticker twice. Both times it was the chrome type. Hairdryer, gentle heat and peel it away. I always remove the sticker on day one when the car is new so there's no faded area. Never left any glue behind either but that might be because the sticker wasn't applied for long.

You can use the hair drier and the heat gun for the removal of this. Then use the thinner, alcohol or the sprit for the removal of residue. Try it. Good luck.

you can use i thing called a caramel wheel you can get them from worths or earls paint place or any other automotive paint place. put one one a air or electric drill and it will detroy the sticker but not harm the paint.

i am a panel beater and spraypainter by trade and use them everyday of the week. we use them to remove the double sided tape from under door moulds and badges befor paint and repair.
