So i had my rotors resurfaced and put on new Hawk HPS pads. Bled the system and i find the pedal is soft and spongey so i broke in the pads and continued to see if it would get better but it didnt. So we bled the system twice and still it remains the same. Anyone ever experience this with their zze123, do you have any ideas that we could try to fix this?

Is that all you did?

I've had instances where a sim was pushing the pad/piston back into the caliper so when the driver would press the pedal the piston would travel further ie longer spongy pedal

Also you bleed all 4 ? In order ?

Correct brake fluid ?

Engine off is it a hard pedal ?

I've heard mixing DOT5 and DOT3/4 (and DOT5.1) can cause a spongy pedal. I've never tried it myself though.

Some brakes pads are 'spongier' than others too.

Are you sure the pads are square with the surface? Easy way to check is to give the rotors a hose (cold of course), leave over night or a couple of days till they get a light rust layer on them. Drive around for a bit and see where the wear pattern is. Or pull out a pads after a while and check visually.

Yip bled in order. Using dot 4. Dave, will check that out and see. Will check to see if the pedal is hard when car is off and let u know. How do you bleed the abs unit?

There's a bleed port on the side/rear of the ABS unit which is quite difficult to get a hose and spanner on. Bleed it like you would a caliper.
