Hey there folks, New member here, just got my very first Toyota (not my family's first one, mum had a '96 corolla a few years ago and dad has a Dyna truck) which happens to be the new Camry Atara R. it also happens to be my first "zero KM" brand new car

my first impressions of this car so far (I've put about 190km on the clock since Thursday when i picked it up) are that it is supremely comfortable - that being said my previous cars have all had track-oriented suspensions, heavy sway bars, urethane bushes, solid mounts etc so i'm certain a stock Hyundai Excel would be a comfortable ride to me - as well as really easy to soak up the kilometers

i got mine in the graphite color, which personally i think is easily the classiest color this car comes in, closely followed by the pearl white

anyway, here are some photos i took, i'll get some more soon

i hope to get involved in any cruises or meet-ups that take place down here in Melbourne and get involved in the club

hey Jayda

isn't the graphite an awesome color in these cars... only problem is i haven't learned what the damn car looks like, well more i haven't remembered what it looks like in car parks, i keep losing it amidst all the other grey cars in there :)

yep, def pick of the colors! I'm also noticing all the grey colors on the road. My last car was a very light/bright color so taking some getting used to!

What have you managed to get your L per 100km down to? Mine is sitting at 8.6l so far. I've done close to 300km. Wondering how low it will go!

my best so far has been 7.1 average for the day, that was on sunday, i went to the airport, but on friday night i went up Mount Dandenong and got an average of 7.6 for that day which i was really impressed by

that being said, my previous car was a Honda CRX renowned for being particularly frugal, i averaged about 8.5-9l/100km in the CRX so i'm fairly used to light fuel consumption, that being said, in the rex i used to get a maximum of 10l/100 even when pegging it everywhere, but it was a 1.6 weighing 900kg

Great colour choice , purchased the same car/colour myself :)

7.1 pretty good average i have only been more city driving and averaging about 8.9

yeah around town i'm averaging about that also, anywhere between 8 and 9.5ish

about to fill my first tank today :) have been a bit wasteful, i know this but fuel economy hasn't gone above 10l/100 for the week so that's good

Wow 7.1 is great! I had to drive to Phillip Island yesterday and got it down to 7.6 with lots of cruise control on the fwy's. I've done a bit under 1000kms now. Might have to bring my 1000km service forward I think.

I filled up yesterday. I let it get down to around 50km left (going by the display and the light had just came on) but it only took 51.5 litres to fill it. If I remember rightly it has a 70lt tank? So was expecting well over 60lts. How did you go Nicholas?

How long have you had yours beamster?

The locking is driving me nuts. You know how it locks itself? Well, that's ok but it's like child locks for everyone! Is there a way to turn that off?

hit the setup button while parked and fiddle with the vehicle settings, you can set it to unlock when you stick the lever into Park or otherwise it unlocks when you open the driver's door... also i believe there's something in there that turns off the Auto-lock function

just filled up, it's good to know that after the fuel left reaches zero, there's still a good 12 Liters left in the tank (good for at least another 100km after your gauge says zero, good to know!) so my combined consumption in one week of driving this awesome car is exactly 9.04L/100

Hi guys,

I am a new member here and thinking to get the Atara R. Can any Atara R owners share some good and not-so-good things about the car?

Thank you

Alex,

Its a camry mate... So as with all camrys you get reliability, an economic purchase and the Atara R release has some nice extras to make it stand out a little more than the Altise... but in the end, it's a Camry, so if you're looking for an exhilarating ride then maybe consider other options.

However, I really have been enjoying my Atara-S, and i went from a V6 Camry to this 4 cyliner 2.5 and i don't miss the power of 6.
