Hello there,

Just trying to remove my hub nut as I'm planning to replace my driveshaft on this 96 Corolla (AE102). I'm not sure which socket to buy for the hub nut? Are hub nuts relatively the same on most Corollas or? I measured it and it was around 30mm from what I could remember

Thanks for your help

Yeah its probably a 30mm or 32mm, make sure you buy the right socket but i.e. 6 point or 12 point

It might, like i said make sure you buy a 6 point socket if your nut has 6 points or 12 point if its got 12 points

Also depends on how much thread/shaft is sticking out and how deep the socket is, don't wanna end up with a socket that is too short to reach the nut

Generally a 30 or 32 (pending size) deep socket will do the trick. I have only ever seen 6 point hub nuts on toyotas, so either a 6 or 12 point socket will undo it.

The easiest way to get it off is have a friend stand on the breaks and then hit it with a rattle gun. Failing that use a large breaker bar, it will be tight though.

Mick, my factory axle/hub nuts were 12 point.

Another way is your friend stands on the brakes, and use a jack on the breaker bar to save your lower back.
