Hi all

Looking at buying a 99 conquest, but front power windows have died - won't work at all. Any idea what might be the cause and how much its likely to cost to fix?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Regards, Steve

Should be easy fix mate, cost per set of motor/regulator $41 (self-serve car wrecker) eBay much higher + shipping cost.

Replacing requires minimal skills, just some screws and there are plenty of video on internet

Source: done it myself, for the rear though but pretty much the same.

Thanks for the reply Ha, good to know.

Though I didn't make properly clear that both ceased to work at the same time, which would seem to indicate some other cause. Just spoke to a mechanic friend and he sugguests its likely a control switch which is apparently $200-300 to buy, plus install. Any other thoughts most welcome.

I hope he is saying install as free as it is a 1min job. The control itself from toyota is about 500.

If I understood correctly, you meant the control switches just assembled in the door yeah? (Like you operate it with your fingers, not some hidden place - which I don't believe so)

These one can be bought for $13 (single - like the passenger one), or $50~$60 (set of 4 - driver one) - but again these are prices from wrecker yard. But I saw couple of times on Gumtree for about 50% higher price.

Install would be even easier, just a pocket knife will do the job. Unplug the wiring and replace it.

Thanks for the reply, nice to know its an easy job. He's more 'friend of a friend', but I'm sure he'd be happy to do it for a bottle of wine or the like! Or maybe I could even do it myself. The ~$300 cost is obviously from a wrecker.

Thanks again Ha, but no, we are not referring to the door switches - I believe we are talking about some sort of 'hidden place' master switch.
