Cabin Air Filter

Hi Nuganen, glad you asked this question. I had no idea there was any such thing, however you will get lots of advice if you google "Avalon cabin air filter". I have a 2004 GXI and will attempt to do this tomorrow as I am going on a long trip next week. Let me know how you get on and I will do likewise. regards

No luck so far with the cabin air filter. I think all the websites are talking about the American Avalon, I can't find anything on the GXI. Rang Toyota dealer spare parts and the guy searched his computer and said they don't have one (ie the Avalon GXI doesn't have one)!!! Nuganen, have you had any luck mate?

Hi fellas,I recently replaced the one in the wifes Aurion and also the one in my Hilux. Both are located behind the glovebox. With the glovebox open look behind it and wella, there is a plastic cover and the filter is inside.Hilux can be replaced without removing glovebox ,Aurion requires glove box lid to be slipped off, easy as.By the way Ryco make the filters for a 1/4 of the price Toyota are asking.Bought 3 from Autobarn for $20 each.,cheers CONROD

Hi All,

I have been looking into this for some time now; have asked around at Toyota service centres and also the spare parts centre for exchange of a Toyota Avalon air cabin filter. The technicians at Toyota service had mentioned this particular model didn't come with an air filter, I also asked spare parts and mentioned they have never sold a cabin air filter for that particular Toyota model and make. Still not 100% convinced with there answer,  I decided to further investigate and take out the glove compartment and only to realise there is no cabin filter. I do have a mouldy smell coming through the air condition vents and would be interested to hear if anyone has been able to treat the smell with the intake sprays available. I have heard Lysol is great for getting ride out air conditioning odours although they do recommend taking the air cabin filter out during treatment. Has anyone tried any spays on a 2000 - 2006 Avalon. Toyota do sell a spray although it is $60.00 while the remainder I have looked at are 8 to 14 dollars. The air cabin filter got introduced on the Aurion from 2006 and onward.
