Vehicle : 2004 Toyota Corolla Sportivo ZZE123R, pre-facelift model. Currently 240,000klm. Owned from new, no mods.

Question: I require my Timing Chain assembly to be replaced. Can anyone please recommend any reputable place in MELBOURNE where I can get the work costed/completed?

Other information: Yes, I have had it tensioned numerous times, but it still rattles. It seems that the timing chain has been stretched (possible end of its life), hence required replacement. Engine does NOT require rebuild, still good.

Answer: Please post or PM me.

Whoah what do you mean tentioned ??? It's self adjusting. It's a chain

Why do you think it's rattling??.. Does it rattle with the drive belt off ??

The rattle is caused by either the VVT sprocket (should only occur on start up or idle), or the accessory belt tensioner. The fix for the tensioner is to replace the little damper. The second rattle will occur at low revs, usually on take off.

The original question was: Can anyone please recommend any reputable place in MELBOURNE where I can get the work costed/completed?

Thanks to the posted sugestions, but it didnt answer my question.

A while back i did the work suggested (tensioner/damper and adjusting etc), still rattles (not just startup or idle, but also when I am driving). Service agents recommened to replaced the timing chain, and while I was at it, the rest of the gear. The rattle was not present in the 1st couple of hundread thousand klms.
