Help! My temp control knob is jammed. I went to turn the knob to heat yesterday and it wouldn't budge. Has anybody had this problem before? Any suggestions how to fix?

Cheers,

Had this problem when I first picked up my 2005 Hilux over a year ago.

Basically from lack of use the mechanism can get gummed up over time. I found I had to replace the cable that ran from the back of the controls to the heater box, with the little pulley pieces on both ends. Was a real pain of a job, lots of fiddly bits.

If you're lucky just pull off the radio surround and look at the mechanism to see if it's something simpler. It might only take a liberal coating of WD-40 to fix.

Hi Steve, Where will I find where the cable attaches to the heater box? I'm hoping this will be easier to get to than removing the radio so I will inspect this end first. If not, I always wanted to replace the original radio with something better, like an all in 1 gps/radio/dvd/etc/etc. This might be the excuse to finally do something.

Cheers,

Open the glove box. On my 2006 I just push on the sides where you can see the tabs that stop it opening further. Push them in and the glovebox should open revealing the control pulley and gears.
