Does anyone knows if we can use the factory rails for any sports seats? Is it legal to remove the factory seat if it had side air bags?

you will probably have to modify the rail!!!

i think you need it engineered if you want it done legally

oh what seats are you looking at as ive been looking round myself

yes it is illegal to change your seats if they have inbuilt air bags.

its just like changing your steering wheel if it has an air bag the new ones gotta have one too.

side airbags on levin models. even if u get seat rails and all that changed. your airbag light won't go off coz the extra 2 are missing. there are ways around it. but it won't be legal.

if your car didn't come with the side airbags then u just have to get it approved with the new seat rails.

if u are going to use back the factory rail, there's gonna be some butchering that needs to be done to the factory seat.

i know that recaro, sparco, buddyclub all have bolt-on seat rails for the rolla (not ADR approved tho). not sure about bride or sabelt. those rails are about 2-400bucks EACH side.

the Bride seats and rails are not ADR approved. They are FIA approved though.

Jeffrey,

Unfortunately, the only person who can answer this question is the

vehicle manufacturer.

The reason is, an 'air bag' is only an accessory for a vehicle unless it

is fitted so the vehicle complies to the Australian Design Rules.

You would need to contact the manufacturer to find out if your vehicle

will still comply with these design rules without the side air bags.

If the vehicle will comply without the air bags, you can then fit the

seats which don't have the side air bags fitted from the "lower" model.

If you have any other enquiries, don't hesitate to reply or contact

Technical Enquiries on 1300 137 302.
