HI all,

New to the forums, I have purchased the 2013 Camry Atara S last week, but I am feeling the transmission is not smooth as the demo car that I was driving before I bought it.

I can feel the gear changing from 1 to 2 to 3 but from 3 to 4 is smooth I can not notice it and even when I need to stop the downward 3 to 2 to 1 is noticeable as well. (a bit of jerking).

it that normal on this type of car, I used to drive Holden Commodore so driving 6Cy car is so different.

Please let me know, do I need to contact the dealer regarding this issue, not sure if the dealer will acknowledge the issue.

Cheers,

Does it happen when driving straight or up hill or down hill? Are you driving semi-auto or auto? And are you putting your foot down when taking off?

It could be the way you're driving as well or the change from V6 to a 4cyl, different transmission compared to Holden etc.

I have notice that when I am driving on straight roads, I have not test that up hill or down hill yet.

Are you driving semi-auto or auto?

Auto.

And are you putting your foot down when taking off?

Not much, just touch the accelerator gradually.

Yes, but it is noticeable., even when I take my foot of the accelerator it happens that I can feel the downgrade shift ( 3 - 2- 1 ).

Thanks for your post.

That correct, i have camry 2012 sx, you that lucky than me that only problem downgrade shift. I got problem when its change from 4 to 5 to 6. The car very hard to change gear, make a sound like "crack", front car may lift a little bit up and down quickly. Finally i can say its terrible to drive but i went to dealer for service and told them about the problem, they said fine, car is normal, nothing happen when they do road test. Sick of terible service from them.

Thanks for your post.

I just final go to this number 1800 356 554, to make feedback. Hope that they will inspect and recall soon. Terrible ride for a BRANDNEW CAR.
