Just thought I'd see who else is out to see the Airbus A380.

I am about to leave now to got to Brisbane Airport to take up my vantage point.... :P

Like the topic says, I know it's not a car, but you have to have respect for the mechanics of it...

Agreed ... although very non-car, still very impressive. Just think of the engines alone!

However, the airport is usually busy on a Saturday anyhow. Add in all the people going to the outlet stores, plus the many others wanting to perv on the new plane, I think I'll watch it on TV! :P

Hope you get a good look at it, though. :)

Well, I just got home.... I arrived at the Planespotters area on Acacia Street at 4am to meet about 10 others. By 5am there was about 100, and this grew to about 1000 by 6am.

The Airbus was scheduled to arrive at 8:00am however was delayed leaving Singapore and arrived about 9:00am. All I can say is....

FREAKIN HUGE!!!!!!

I will have some pics (not many) and vid soon hopefully...

FYI - The wing tips were the only part of this aircraft with an Australian connection. They were designed and manufactured by a company in Bankstown, Sydney...

Hey that thing is massive!!!!! I dont want to be a jinx, a downer or anything in that way but........I would be alittle worried about sumthing that big.... with that many people on it..... and that much HI-TECH equipment....trying to stay up in the air!!!!! It would also be a potiential terrorist target as well!! Imagine something that big with that many people being used a a terror device it would be absolutely DISASTEROUS!!!!! They should just keep planes a regular size!!!! Just do more flights to certain places if necessary!!

I understand what your saying, but when you consider that the cost of a new 747 is around $300m and the A380 is a tad over $400m and the seating capacity is nearly doubled for a 3-Class config, why would airlines order 747's....

Size wise, what is normal? The test flights including the trip to Australia contains balasts to impovise the weight of people....

I am a little dissappointed thought that the advertising and public communication was that it was being decked out in Qantas colours for the Brisbane-Sydney-Brisbane journey, and all they did was write QANTAS on the front of the plane and left the tail colours standard...

Yeah, I thought they were going to more effort than that! :(

I saw it fly in and had the perfect observation point... on the Barge to Moreton Island. The thing practically flew right over us :D We saw the previous flights come in (767,747) then this thing came into view and from a distance it looked similiar till it got closer and it just got bigger and bigger.

Picked a great time to fill in for my Cousin's tour business... and the Spanish and Brazilian girls made it all the more worthwhile(especially when it was time for a swim ;) )
