I dont suppose you should do this modd if your car is under warranty.

if you are worried about warranty i would prolly stop reading here lol

all im looking for is a decent exhaust system i can put on my car without warranty issues!

well in that case your only choice is the Sportivo muffler i guess...

all aftermarket mufflers will affect your warranty

Well i spoke to the sales chap at castlehill toyota where im getting my car and he said you can put it on but if something happens i would have to pay for it which i dont have an issue with. I mean what can go wrong with an exhaust from the cat back?? not much! what do you reckon?

Mate only talking from experience here...

I had an aftermarket muffler.. Developed a rattling in the engine.. THEY blamed the aftermarket muffler and wouldnt fix the rattle..

sorry to sound so dumb guys but what does CES actually stand for?

CES is an acronym

More Commonily it stands for "Custom Exhaust System"

but as Stoopid head has pointed out it is also an abbreviation for "Custom Exhaust Specialists" an exhaust shop up here in Brissy that has produced a catback bolt-on exhaust for the sportivo, which several of the members have.

Personally I dont see the problem with fellow forum member's stating they have a "CES" because the fact is they do and so do I, a "Custom Exhaust System" now if they had been saying "I have a "Custom Exhaust Specialists" system on my car" when they didnt then sure have a go at them.... But the fact is the acronym "CES" could stand for anything almost....

all you CES exhaust owners, was the exhaust system a direct bolt on or did you have to get a flange welded on to fit it on? this is for a corolla sportivo changing from the stock system.

also, any recommendations for exhaust shops in melbourne that provide value for money and won't screw up the CES exhaust installation?

CES sell headers and CAI's as well. AFAIK they are the only catback system you can get off the shelf. Other shops will custom make something for you if you wish.

Remus do a catback too, BKS has one I think. I've only just found out that both Remus and CES need a flange cut and welded onto the back of the stock cat. Strange that Toyota made such a large 1pc exhaust system!

No, BKS has a "Doms Special" - done by Carnegie brake and mufflers in Melb

yeah... i run a custom mandrel bent 2.5" with a Varex MufFler.

What is the difference in sound between the various modes of the Varex muffler.

Are they really silent in silent mode and does it strangle performance much when in this mode.

yeah its quieter than the stock sportivo muffler when the valve is closed. I run the twin tip Varex so when the valve is closed its still a 2" exhaust through the muffler.

Performance at peak RPM is strangled a little yes, but you do get the torque. All the advantages are obviously when you run it open, and you reduce the restrictions, it hits redline alot quicker.

great mufflers IMO.

It would be interesting to see the dynos overlayed of the varex open and closed to see where they intersect. You could then theoretically have it automatically switch to the open position at the first crossover point, and just stay under those revs in regular driving if you want to remain quiet.

Honestly though, how many people use CES to just describe their exhaust as a custom exhaust, rather than a CES product?

Sounds like you need to make a decision champ: 1. leave stock and keep warranty valid, or 2. mod car, voiding warranty and covering costs out of your own pocket if anything ever goes wrong. You can't really do both. All aftermarket parts/accessories will come with their own individual warranty, but obviously the effect that each of those parts has on the rest of the car (if not researched properly) isn't something that any warranty will cover. That there is the price you pay and the choice you make when choosing to mod a vehicle. PS - i'm not having a go at you... Just thought I'd put it in my words :)

OT: I'll be giving the CES boys a ring regarding a cat back exhaust for ROL14, so thats for the feed back lucio_libre :)
