I am a girl with a celica 87. I bought the car last year and I really love it. I had a problem with the engine recently. My mechanic somehow fixed it but he doesnt know how long it will last. I was advice to get another car... He says changing the engine would be to much trouble for what it worth but I have shop around and to get the same car in a reasonnable condition I am looking at around $3000 and buying new problems (cause the engine may blow up on that one anyway...) Any idea where I can find a quality used or rebuit engine and a mechanic specialising in that type of work (on gold coast). Cheers

any ways once you buy it i can refer you to a workshop in miami. :)

id buy it my self but not for that price. if you keep ur eyes open and browes through all the celica forums like toymods and ozcelica then u should find one that some one has taken out to do a conversion to a 3sgte like the one on ebay there.

or u can go straight into the conversion ur self.

best option is to get a imported 3sge, and freshen it up with new seals and what not, and pop that in, new motor should cost you about 1300-1400 with wiring and ECU, the guy you need to wire it is name jonathan, he lives here in brisbane(cost 400, ~450 for the gold coast that were he did matty's). exhaust wise well that can cost you up to a grand depending where you go and what you want. engine conversions are not cheap, but you will get alot more power out of a 3sge then you did in the 3sfe, note you also don't need to get a mod plate under the queensland road athorities the St162 was released with a 3sge as an option but you have a 3sfe which mean you have and ST, not an SX unless someone has done an conversion to it, confirm this buy the drum only rear brakes.
