'98 Corolla hatchback rear 5x7's..

Hi All..

I believe this to be my first post here

downgraded from a 4Runner to a Corolla a few weeks ago, and have set about upgrading things such as the stereo and adding keyless entry :)

I've gotten to the rear speakers, I've picked up some Alpine 5x7's which are a little 'chunkier' than the factory ones.. I'm just wondering if anyone has modified that steel oval/ring that the original ones were mounted to in order to fit slightly larger speakers and if so, how'd you go about it? I'm just thinking of cutting a portion out of it.. but if someone has done it or has a better suggestion - i'm all ears :)

Heres a few photos.. I've already had to cut the extra mounting points off the speakers.. which may need to be tidied up a bit, so just ignore that :)
