Hi,

Just after some advice on new tires for a SR5 hilux. Standard size is 255 70 R15, i am looking for a decent offroad tire that will handle a bit of mud. I go off road only about 4 or 5 times a year mainly in alpine areas, not full on 4 w driving, just to access araes. I currently run cooper sst max on my prado which i have been happy with, a friend specks highly of th BFG m/t as well. The main advice i need is on size, there is very little choice in off road tires in the original size. To use the BFG as an example do you go down a size ie. LT235/75R15 = 5mm less OD or up a size 30X9.50R15LT = 27mm increase in OD. Will the hilux struggle with the bigger tires both with power and fuel economy?

The Hilux is auto with the diesel motor.

Is this the correct location of post?

Cheers
