Hi all, first post, but I've been reading lots! I've managed to wrangle a new hybrid to evaluate for the weekend - but there's one thing that is turning SWMBO away at the moment...

Is there any way to turn that stupid automatic door lock above X k/mh? It is fine if it then unlocked under the same speed, or in park or whatever, but as far as I can tell it doesn't?

Please help!

This also has driven mrs a bit mental but i havent worried about it yet. Have a look in the touch screen interface when u press the car button and it may also mention something about the auto lock feature in the manual.

I haven't got a manual, and I've been searching for ages on the internet to find one and it is actually really difficult! I've had a play with the car menu, but I can't find anything that looks like it is it. I guess I'll keep searching. It appears SWMBO has gotten used to it, but having said that Little SWMBO hasn't, which is almost as frustrating, just on a different level.

Hi,

Mine is an HL, and the manual indicates that the following possibilities can be user customised:

Speed sensitive auto locking ON (default) or OFF

Opening the driver's door unlocks all the doors OFF (default) or ON

Moving shift lever to P unlocks all doors (auto unlock by shift to P) OFF (default) or ON - I have mine set this way

Moving shift lever out of P locks all doors (auto lock by shift from P) OFF (default) or ON

So I don't think that feature should be a cause for concern.

Cheers, coolscan

You little ripper! I've found it!

Go to setup on the central display, select vehicle (this can only be done when the vehicle is 'running' but has to be in park. From there there is a 'Speed sensitive autolocking' option - turn it off. Viola! Enjoy!

I would edit the previous screen, but I'm in the ipad and it's just too hard and didn't refresh before posting... Coolscan has got it right, but with the Hi can't see the 'drivers door opening all others' option, but my theory is if they don't lock in the first place they don't need to unlock?

Jordan,

I would read that as being an alternative means of auto unlocking to the "auto unlock by putting shifter into P" when the speed sensitive auto locking is enabled. Haven't tried it though.

Cheers, coolscan.

In the end I reckon you're right, I managed to find another menu that does unlock it and tried it on the way to give it back and it was successful, so it's all good!

Hopefully next time I will be posting as an owner lol

Hello everyone, we just bought a Camry hybrid H, only pick up next Wednesday, can't wait. Back to the topic, I actually like this auto lock sensing feature. I live in Perth and car hijacking is getting worst, and I found it's good for my wife when driving at night in case she forgets to lock manually. I am very glad to know that the Camry Hybrid have this safety feature, according to Toyota brochure, it's only available to the non hybrid Camry. I used to have an Hyundai i30 and it has this feature too, Hyundai calls ' Halo' or something. Thank you very for the instruction.

Another new Camry H happy owner here guys!

Just a related question on this topic: can this model be set up to auto-lock the entire car (as per the door handle manual swipe) if you walk away from the car and the remote is out of range after a certain distance/time...? Cheers!

I don't know of any cars that do that! Pretty sure my 2012 H won't/can't... Sorry!
