SR5 Fuel Primer Issues

hey there,

i have some reoccurring start issues when im parked facing uphill, or when i havnt starter her for a day or so. all signs point to a fuel-flow issue. for example, if i manually prime the fuel pump prior to starting, i dont have this issue. but manually priming the pump before starting up every morning just isnt practical.

i was considering installing a switch on the dash to act as an electronic primer. the switch would just temporarily put power to the fuel pump circuit before start up. but im a little worried about other issues i could create by doing so.

has anybody else had this problem or done something like this? is there any risk of over-presurising the lines?

any help or insight would be much appreciated.

Sorry but what do you mean by u/s? Well the pump and primer have done close to 300,000km's. Mechanics thought it might be solved by an injector service but I just can't afford that at the moment. Do you think maybe installing a new fuel pump and primer might fix it?

      O2 sensor

      My 2003 avensis verso wagon is shuddering while idling. It has trouble gaining speed and shudders intermittently while driving. Its probably a fuel problem, but mechanic wants $2000+ to change o2 sensors. So i will do myself Possibly that will alleviate the problem, but more possibly not. However, sensors may help determine problem . My question is ..there are 4 sensors ..two above cylinder 2 and 3 , i'm led to believe...and two below ( 1 and 4) Internet suggests post CAT and Pre Cat sensors. I assume upper sensors are pre cat. But post Cat? Below. ? Is that correct? And just where is the Catalytic converter located? I thought it was just before muffler. But no sensors under car that i can see. Any help with knowledge is appreciated. Expensive even to install myself . Car is only worth $4000 max. So spending $2000 for mechanic only to find more problem ( fuel filter?) Really hurts

      The amount of oil that will bring the oil level from the lower dot on the dipstick to the higher dot is only 500 ml. The engine oil sump takes about 9.5 litres of oil in total. When the level is at the lower mark, this means that the engine has 9 litres of oil remaining. Basically not a big deal at all for the oil level to be at the low mark.

      Average Fuel consumption display

      Hi Chris, Have tried many combinations of buttons on our "Faye" too no avail mate, so I have no idea if you can reset the display for fuel consumption. I know on refilling it goes up greatly as air has entered the tank and comes down fast when driving any distance, so I don't bother much I just keep an eye on it and when it gets up around 11L/100klm as most of our outings is local 50kph zones, I take Faye out and try to go for a 80/90 kph run and it comes back down to around the usual 8 L/100 - 9 L/100klm. Good luck on the weathershields and maybe post some pics of them fitted. KAA

      2020 Camy Hybrid EV battery problem.

      Hi All, i have an odd problem with the EV battery. First time it happened was 2 months ago, the car felt like it was holding back when coasting and the brake pedal was hard then soft and the EV battery was taking a long time to charge to even 4 bars on the dash, normally I can get it to 4-5 bars all day long no problem. The engine was starting way more than usual, even on takeoff as soon as i touched the accelerator, and even when i did get 4 bars it would be gone in 200m or so. I'm an Uber driver so i have learnt how to get the best out of the system, AVG 3.9 klm/L. This went on for 4-5 days i booked it in to Toyota and the day before it went in i was on a freeway onramp and had to brake for a corner and the brake pedal pulsated after that the car was back to normal in fact was running better than ever! Took it to the dealer anyway, no codes nothing. So yesterday it started doing the same thing. Battery taking way longer to charge, strange brake pedal etc. i even took it down a long 1klm hill and got the battery up to 5 bars and used EV mode on a dead flat road and within a few hundred meters it was down to 3 and the engine kicked in. Car has 70000 klm on it. Anybody got any ideas? P.S battery filter is clean and i have the A/C directed at the intake under the back seat.

      Reverse sensors - how to disable

      Hi there, This is my first post! We bought a 2004 Kluger recently. Lovely car, very happy. . But... the beeping reverse sensor is driving me insane! Rather than being helpful, it actually distracts me when reversing, which I think is dangerous. How do I disconnect it? Or can I turn it down to stop being so effin' piercing?! Always been a Toyota chickiebabe. Epic cars.
