Help needed re: Airbag Light

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I've asked my mechanic while servicing my car to install a sportivo wheel on my 03 ascent.

Got a call saying he couldn't do it as the airbag light came on and wouldnt turn off?

Any ideas?

I know people here have done this swap, any issues?

Anyone know how to get around this problem?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

C-rolla

How did you get around this issue?

Did you sort it out yourself or get a mechanic?

Thanks for your replies mate - really appreciate it.

Cheers

The way to get around is to get the wire from the car where you got it from, in my case a facelift, and use the harness from there.

and i havent gotten around the issue, i actually just left it as is.

Hey Mate,

The wheel turns out is from an 05, my ascent is an 03... which wires do you think i need?

You think taking it to a Toyota Dealer, they would be able to sort it out?

Cheers.

Normally while changing the steering wheel according to different models fuses need to be changed as well, especially if the steering wheel is carrying extra added functions along with it.

Hope that helped.

Toyota couldn't even do it.. said the wiring is different..

I'm a bit pi$$ed off, the wheel must be from a later model corolla where they've used different electronics.

So trying to find an air-bag module from an earlier sportivo maybe that would work plug'n'play with my 2003 ascent.

otherwise I'm just selling the thing as its not worth the hassle.

Has anyone changed their ascent wheel successfully??? with the airbag still working?

thanks for responding mate.

Cheers.

Anyone have an idea as to whether this airbag module (45130-0W070) would be plug n play with a 2003 corolla ascent without any issues? I have the steering wheel but the airbag module I have currently keeps erroring the airbag light.

I'm at my wits end with this thing conversion.....???

this is a module im wanting to buy..

Toyota are full of cr@p, they charged me to tell me that it wouldn't work (couldnt tell me why....)

They didn't tell me that I needed a new clock spring or anything...

Glad to hear its sorted !

Some toyota dealers dont know sh*t tbh, i asked for a replacement mirror for a "facelift ZRE152" at one point. They just looked at me with a blank face probably thinking "wtf is this guy talking about".
