Cabletie

Recommended Posts

Hey all. Thanks for reading and trying to help. Here's what's going on. Iv got a 2.8 diesel 94 dual cab sr5 Hilux. Very tidy unit I'm happy with it. I need a new hand brake cable to pass the second road worthy, easy right? Well I checked all the auto shops like bursons and auto pro. They don't carry them so I had no choice but go to toyota themselfs and pay a arm and leg and waited 3 days to find out the cable is to short. So today I went around to a wreckers yard, they had 3 cables, 1 out of a leaf spring Hilux which is too short (mine is independent front) then they pulled a cable out of a independent one and guess what? That one is too short aswell! So now I lv got no idea where to go or what to do. Does anyone know if my model had two types of cables for the independent suspension model? Has anyone come across the same problem?

You DID back off the adustment, didn't you? There are bowden cable relacement companies throughout Oz, Flexible drive agencies here in Perth, Give them a sample and they'll make it up/shorten/lengthen etc. They also make up speedo and tacho cables, inners and/or outers. NB someone may have shortened the rear half of the cable? The mount point for the pivot isn't std? It can't be too hard to work out. lay to cables beside ech other and compare directly. Check part number-make sure it's right. Is it a grey import, half-cut fitted etc? NOT correct vehicle?--pls qiuote VIN.
