Hi Guys,

I have found on the net that the 3.4L V6 in the Hilux is a detuned version of the same engine found in the Prado? Toyota have added a shorter intake plenum

to the Hilux version which has removed about 10 kw and 65 nm of torque. Apparently the shorter plenum was installed so the engine would fit in the Hilux engine bay?

There are a few stories around that if a body lift kit was installed then the larger plenum from the Prado could be used in the Hilux and maybe the ECU to regain

those lost kw and torque.

Does anybody know of anyone that has done this? tried to do it? or has any other useful information on the subject?

I am of course going to add proper headers and exhaust, remove the plastic air intake elbow and add a snorkel first of all. But inquiries into chips have

added to about $1600 (Chiptorque EXEDE) for a possibly 8 - 12 kw!

The body lift and 2nd hand plenum/ECU would be possibly cheaper and still allow for the chip if need be later on.

Any thoughts, advice or comments welcomed.

Thanks,

Haf.
