hi all I have a 2004 sr5 turbo diesel only noticed last week that the handbook says to use 4wd monthly to lubricate the front diff or whatever its got

my model has a push button on 4wd lever. all my other 4wd including Toyotas say to use only off road in loose surface anybody know different

The handbook is correct. 4WD should be engaged and spun for at least a few wheel turns every month. This spreads oil on the seals so they dson't grab and tear, and wets the gears, preventing rust, among other things. Find some grassy spot and try not to chew it up. The alternative is to disengage the front hubs , select hi 4 and drive around the block on a regular basis.
