g'day everyone out there

I've just gone and bought a 2000 Model hilux (KNZ165R), and was talking to a lad I work with about the intake manifold. He has bought a 2006 model hilux, and he said when he took the manifold off it was filled with crap. He said that he clean the manifold out and blocked the egr, making his car run alot better.

I was wondering if this would be a worthwhile thing to do on the 2000 model. If so would it be a big job and how would it be done? Any pointers??

cheers
